- Free to use. Browse, search, save a shortlist. No account, no email gate.
- Personal use only. No scraping, no bulk export, no rebuilding the directory elsewhere.
- Data is best-effort. We curate from public sources. Verify with the fund before you rely on it.
- CFO Fractal advisory is separate. If you hire us, that engagement has its own contract.
- Québec law. Disputes resolved in Montréal.
- Changes get notice. Material changes show up in a banner for 30 days before they kick in.
By using the directory, you accept these terms.
These terms of use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and CFO Fractal ("we", "us", "CFO Fractal"), the Canadian firm that operates the Finance for Quantum at the domain where you're reading this ("the Directory").
By accessing or using the Directory, saving a profile, submitting a fund, or contacting us through the site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Directory.
If you're using the Directory on behalf of a company or firm, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity, and "you" refers to both you personally and the entity.
What the Directory actually is.
The Directory is a free, founder-facing database of venture capital funds investing in Canada, curated and enriched by CFO Fractal. It includes:
- A searchable index of funds with thesis, stage, sector, ticket size, portfolio, and co-invest signals.
- A local workspace where you can save a founder profile and a shortlist, both stored in your browser.
- A fundraise readiness audit and related content published at
/contact. - Editorial tools you can use: compare view, fit scoring, match explanations.
The Directory is offered as a service, not as a product: there are no SLAs, no guaranteed uptime, and we may change, add, or remove features at any time without notice.
What you can do. And what you can't.
The Directory is a gift to founders. Treat it like one: use it to make your raise sharper, don't use it to rebuild or resell the work.
- Browse, search, filter, and read fund profiles for personal or professional fundraising purposes.
- Save a shortlist, a founder profile, and use the workspace and compare features.
- Share individual fund profile links with co-founders, advisors, or investors.
- Quote short excerpts (with credit and a link) in blog posts, newsletters, or research.
- Submit a fund for inclusion or flag an error through the submit form.
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Directory, with or without tools.
- Bulk download, copy, or export fund listings beyond a personal shortlist.
- Republish the Directory, mirror it, or build a competing directory from its data.
- Use the Directory to spam, phish, or send unsolicited outreach at scale.
- Interfere with the site's operation: probing, load attacks, circumventing rate limits or auth.
- Misrepresent your identity when submitting a fund or contacting us.
When you submit a fund, here's what happens.
The Directory welcomes fund submissions through the submit formwhether from the fund itself or from a founder who worked with the fund and thinks it should be listed.
By submitting information about a fund, you grant CFO Fractal a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to review, edit, format, translate, and publish that information in the Directoryin whole or in part, in either language, alongside other editorial content. You represent that you have the right to submit the information and that publishing it does not infringe any third-party rights.
We retain full editorial discretion: we may accept, reject, edit, combine, or remove any submission at any time, for any reason, without explanation. Submission does not guarantee listing.
If your fund is listed and you want the listing removed, updated, or corrected, email gaetan@cfofractal.ca. We respond to reasonable fund-side requests within 5 business days.
Best-effort. Not a warranty.
Venture funds move. Thesis drifts, partners leave, funds close, ticket bands shift, a fund publicly says "pre-seed" and writes a $5M Series A six months later. We refresh the Directory on a regular cadence and flag stale data where we spot it, but we can't promise the information is current at the moment you're reading it.
The Directory is provided "as is" and "as available"without warranties of any kind. Before you rely on a fund's listed stage, sector, ticket, or lead behavior to make a real decision (who to pitch, who to accept money from, how to structure your round), verify directly with the fund.
Nothing in the Directory is investment, legal, tax, or business advice. Fund logos, names, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification purposes only.
Separate service. Separate contract.
The Directory is free and operated by CFO Fractal as a service to the Canadian founder community. CFO Fractal also offers paid advisory services (fractional CFO, fundraise prep, financial due diligence support, board narrative) at cfofractal.ca.
These Terms cover the Directory only. If you engage CFO Fractal for advisory work, that engagement is governed by a separate statement of work and master services agreement signed between your company and CFO Fractal. Nothing in these Terms creates an advisory, fiduciary, or client relationship.
Who owns what.
The Directory's design, code, editorial writing, curation, scoring logic, match explanations, questions library, thesis summaries, and the Finance for Quantum brand and logo are © 2026 CFO Fractalprotected by Canadian and international copyright and trademark law.
Fund names, logos, trademarks, and portfolio details remain the property of their respective owners. They appear in the Directory for identification and editorial purposes, consistent with fair dealing principles under Canadian copyright law.
Content you create on the Directory (your founder profile, your shortlist, your notes, your contact messages) remains yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that content only to deliver the service you're using (showing you personalized matches, replying to your email, etc.), as described in the Privacy Policy.
The legal part, kept short.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CFO Fractal is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the Directory, including lost business, lost funding, lost revenue, or lost data, even if we've been advised such damages were possible.
For direct damages, our total aggregate liability for anything arising out of or related to these Terms or the Directory is capped at CAD $100. The Directory is free; this cap reflects that.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or limitation of liability for consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you in full. Where they don't, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
If your use of the Directory gets us sued.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold CFO Fractal harmless from and against any third-party claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising out of (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the Directory (scraping, scaling misrepresentation, spamming), or (c) content you submitted that infringes someone else's rights.
This section survives termination of these Terms.
Either of us can walk away.
You can stop using the Directory at any time. To delete your local data, clear your browser storage for the Directory's domain or use the reset controls in your workspace.
We can suspend or terminate your access, in whole or in part, if we reasonably believe you're violating these Terms or putting the Directory at risk for other users. For most cases, we'll reach out before doing this; for clear abuse (scraping, attacks, spam), we may act immediately.
We can also discontinue the Directory entirely at any time. It's free, and keeping it running depends on our continued willingness to operate it. If we shut it down, we'll publish notice reasonably in advance when we can.
We'll tell you before changes bite.
We may update these Terms to reflect new features, changes in the law, or operational realities. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
For material changes (new obligations on users, new restrictions, expanded use of data), we'll display a banner on the Directory homepage for at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and update the Privacy Policy in parallel if relevant. Continued use of the Directory after the change means you accept the new Terms.
For non-material changes (typos, clarifications, restructuring), we'll update the page without formal notice.
Québec law, Montréal forum.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Directory will be resolved exclusively by the courts sitting in the judicial district of Montréal, Québec, Canadaand you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Where you're a consumer acting outside a commercial activity, nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your place of residence.
