Investment thesis

Breega is a Paris-based pan-European early-stage VC founded 2015, with ~€700M AUM across four funds. Breega IV €250M (2023 vintage). Invests Seed to Series B across SaaS, fintech, deep tech and climate. Cheques €500k-€10M, lead or co-lead.

Quantum bet: Alice & Bob (French cat-qubit / bosonic quantum computing, PROQCIMA selectee). Breega participated in Alice & Bob's €27M Series A (2022) alongside Elaia and Supernova Invest, and reinvested in the €100M Series B January 2025.

Value-add: French operator community; pan-European syndication for French deep-tech founders; brand visibility in Paris ecosystem.

Not a quantum specialist — single high-conviction French bet inside a broader generalist mandate. Cap-table presence on one of France's strongest quantum hardware platforms.

Anti-thesis

The patterns that trigger a fast no with this fund.

  1. VIP framework (Vision + Individuals + Product) is founder-centric and stage-agnostic, passes on hardware-heavy teams without commercial vision articulation
  2. Alice & Bob is the singular quantum bet (since 2020) and Breega has not led a second quantum round, appears to be one-position exposure, not a thesis
  3. Seed-to-Series A+ mandate with EUR 110M seed fund cannot sustain the multi-round dilution math of a 10-year quantum hardware company
  4. Breega's own Medium post frames quantum as future and emphasizes hybrid integration with classical / AI, pure-play fault-tolerant hardware bets sit outside their near-term return frame
  5. Pan-European generalist (Paris, Barcelona, London, Africa) with climate and digital as larger buckets, quantum allocation is opportunistic, not programmatic
