Investment thesis

IN Venture is the Tel Aviv-based corporate VC of Sumitomo Corporation (Japanese trading conglomerate, $500B+ revenue), launched 2016 to source Israeli frontier technology for transfer to Japanese industrial applications. Approximate $100M+ deployed across enterprise software, cybersecurity, AI, cleantech and deep tech. Target cheques $2-10M, Series A-C, typically co-lead.

Quantum bet: Classiq Technologies (Tel Aviv, quantum algorithm design and compiler platform abstracting qubit-level programming). IN Venture backed Classiq at Series A (2021) and followed in Series B ($33M Feb 2022) alongside HPE Pathfinder, Samsung NEXT, Phoenix and Spike Ventures. Classiq has since raised a $110M Series C (May 2025, largest-ever quantum software round) and a $30M up-round Nov 2025 with AMD Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures and IonQ.

Value-add is genuinely operational: Sumitomo Corporation itself is a Classiq customer, using the platform with Mizuho-DL Financial Technology for 95%-compressed Monte Carlo simulations on credit portfolio risk (March 2025 breakthrough). Direct Japan commercialization channel via Sumitomo's chemicals, energy, materials and manufacturing divisions.

Differentiated as the Israel-to-Japan quantum corridor CVC with an active industrial customer relationship inside its own parent company — a rare alignment of capital and real demand.

Anti-thesis

The patterns that trigger a fast no with this fund.

  1. CVC-driven mandates can introduce strategic strings (right of first refusal, exclusivity on use cases, slower decision cycles) that may hamper a quantum startup's ability to sell across competing industrials. If you need rapid multi-customer expansion in mobility or materials, a CVC anchored to one conglomerate may constrain GTM optionality.
