Investment thesis
Red Dot Capital Partners is a Tel Aviv/Singapore-based growth-stage VC founded 2015, with ~$500M AUM across two funds (Fund II $275M 2022 vintage). Invests Series B through growth across Israeli enterprise SaaS, cybersecurity, fintech and deep tech. Cheques $5-25M, often lead.
Quantum bet: Quantum Machines. Red Dot led the $50M Series B (2022) that helped establish Quantum Machines as the dominant quantum-control vendor, and followed on in the Series C (2024) alongside Battery, Intel Capital and Qualcomm Ventures.
Value-add: Israeli-to-Asia commercialization bridge via Singapore office and Temasek LP relationships; relevant for Quantum Machines' APAC expansion.
Not a quantum specialist — single high-conviction growth bet inside a broader Israeli tech mandate. Arguably the most important single quantum bet made by any Israeli growth investor.
Anti-thesis
The patterns that trigger a fast no with this fund.
- Growth-stage mandate ($10M to $30M checks into Series B+) assumes commercial traction that almost no quantum company outside a handful (IonQ, Quantinuum, PsiQuantum) currently demonstrates, structurally excluding the category
- Temasek anchor creates the same Singapore-parent conflict as Vertex: sovereign quantum vehicles in Singapore have first look, Red Dot is unlikely to be the lead in cross-border quantum rounds
- Israeli growth focus skews to cyber, fintech, and enterprise SaaS scale-ups, no public evidence of quantum diligence capacity, partner expertise, or thesis development
- Fund vintage and DPI pressure from 2019-2021 funds incentivize faster-cycling bets, not 10+ year quantum holds
